Lower Daytime Power Bills with a System Built for Your Home
The Sunshine Coast gets strong sun for most of the year, which makes rooftop solar one of the most practical ways to take control of your electricity costs. The key is getting the design right: the right number of panels, the right inverter and an installation that suits coastal conditions.
FCS Electrical and Solar is a licensed electrical contractor based in Buderim. We design and install solar for families who want to cut daytime bills, homeowners adding to a growing household, and anyone planning a battery or electric vehicle in the next few years.

Why Have an Electrician-Led Team Install Your Solar
Solar is electrical work from the roof to the meter. Having one team responsible for all of it keeps things simpler and safer.
No Hand-Offs
The same business looks after the switchboard, wiring and solar, so nothing falls between trades.
Switchboard Assessed Upfront
We check capacity and protection on the first visit, so any upgrade is in the quote – not a surprise on install day.
Certified Electrical Work
Work is tested and certified under Queensland electrical safety rules, with your paperwork at handover.
Built for Coastal Conditions
Careful mounting, roof penetrations and isolator placement to handle heat, salt air and storms.
Battery and EV Ready
Planning for storage or an EV charger now avoids paying to redo work later.
Local Support
Based in Buderim, so we are close by if you need advice or a service after installation.
Panels, Inverters and Battery-Ready Options
We explain the choices in plain English and list the exact models in your quote.
Solar Panels
Modern monocrystalline panels, including N-type and PERC designs, compared on efficiency, heat performance and warranty terms.
Inverters
String, hybrid and microinverter options matched to your roof layout, shading and whether you want a battery.
Battery-Ready Set-Ups
A hybrid inverter installed now lets you add a compatible battery later without replacing equipment.
Designing a System to Suit Your Roof and Usage
Good solar design starts with your power bills. We look at how much electricity you use and, just as importantly, when you use it – daytime usage is where solar delivers the most value.
Then we look at the roof: orientation, pitch, shading from trees or neighbouring buildings, and exposure to coastal weather. Panel and inverter sizing is matched to your supply (single-phase or three-phase) and to the export limits that apply to your connection, and we prepare the grid-connection application to Energex.
- Bill and usage review
- Roof orientation, pitch and shading
- Panel-to-inverter sizing
- Energex export limits and approval
Inverter installSolar Rebates and Incentives in Queensland
The main incentive for home solar is the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Eligible systems create small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which are usually applied as an upfront discount on your quote. The discount reduces each year until the scheme ends in 2030.
Batteries may qualify for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, and feed-in tariffs are set by your electricity retailer, so it pays to compare. Incentives change, so we explain what applies to your system at quote time and point you to the official sources.

Adding a Battery to Your Solar
A battery stores surplus daytime solar so you can use it in the evening. It tends to make the most sense for households with high evening usage or a low feed-in tariff. If a battery is on your radar, we can design the system around a hybrid inverter now and add storage when you are ready.

Enquiry & Bill Review
Send a recent power bill and tell us what you want to achieve.
Site Inspection & Design
We check the roof, switchboard and supply, then design the system.
Quote & Approvals
A written quote with exact equipment, then the Energex application.
Install, Test, Hand Over
Installed and commissioned, monitoring set up, and your paperwork provided. Your retailer then reconfigures the meter.

Solar Installation FAQs
How long does a home solar installation take?
Most residential rooftop systems are installed in a single day once the design is final and approvals are in place. The overall timeline is longer because Energex must approve the grid connection and your electricity retailer needs to reconfigure or replace the meter before the system can export. Complex roofs, switchboard upgrades or three-phase work can add time.
What size solar system do I need for my home?
System size depends on how much electricity you use, when you use it, the usable roof area and any export limits on your connection. Reviewing a few recent power bills is the best starting point. Households with high daytime usage, or plans for a battery or electric vehicle, usually benefit from a larger array than a home that is empty during the day.
Are there solar rebates available in Queensland?
The main incentive is the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Eligible systems create small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which are usually applied as an upfront discount on your quote. The value reduces each year until the scheme ends in 2030. Batteries may qualify for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Check the Clean Energy Regulator website for current details.
Can I add a battery to my solar system later?
Yes, in most cases. The simplest path is installing a hybrid inverter at the start, which can connect a compatible battery later. If you already have a standard string inverter, a battery can usually be added with its own inverter (AC-coupled). An electrician should check compatibility, switchboard space and the battery location requirements in AS/NZS 5139.
How do I choose a solar installer on the Sunshine Coast?
Ask for the electrical contractor licence number, check the installer holds current solar accreditation, and get a written quote listing the exact panel, inverter and battery models. Look for a site inspection rather than a phone-only quote, and ask who handles the grid-connection paperwork and after-sales support.
Does solar work well in the Sunshine Coast climate?
The Sunshine Coast gets strong sunshine for most of the year, which suits rooftop solar. Heat slightly reduces panel efficiency, and coastal salt air and storms mean mounting, roof penetrations and isolators should be installed carefully to the relevant standards. Regular inspections help keep a system performing and safe over its life.
